The awards will be judged on the entry submission of between 1500 and 3000 words and supporting evidence. We are looking for you to demonstrate different criteria for each award. Please ensure you read this information before completing your entry.

The judging panel is comprised of leading manufacturing industry experts from around the globe and has been asked to give an impartial, professional and wide-reaching evaluation of each entry.

1. Green Manufacturing Award

The judges will be looking for case studies where companies have been able to demonstrate unparalleled performance in environmental manufacturing. This will include maximising energy efficiency levels, compliance with environmental regulations and minimising waste from the production process. Manufacturers will need to illustrate success in cutting their carbon footprint, as well as converting green manufacturing into a business opportunity.

2. Innovation Award

With innovation remaining the key differentiator in today’s ultra-competitive marketplace, companies will need to demonstrate significant progress in designing, developing and delivering a blockbuster product concept. The judging panel will be looking for evidence of how businesses have maintained their competitive advantage by sustaining considerable rates of innovation, whilst remaining responsive to market demands.

3. Operational Excellence Award

The minimisation, and indeed outright elimination, of waste continues to dominate the manufacturer’s agenda. Enterprises will be required to successfully illustrate how they have conquered the world of continuous improvement, having made significant progress with such techniques as lean and six sigma, in turn minimising waste across their manufacturing processes while simultaneously maximising customer value.

4. Manufacturing IT Award

The winner of this award will be able to demonstrate unrivalled progress and success in designing and executing an IT infrastructure covering the manufacturer’s multiple processes and disciplines, resulting in evident ROI. The judging panel will be looking for companies which have clearly exhibited an ability to effectively embrace and utilise IT as a tool in maximising productivity and ensuring competitiveness.

5. Skills in Manufacturing Award

Even with the most up-to-date technology available, it is the people within the workforce that ultimately drive the success of the modern manufacturing enterprise. In an era where perceptions of manufacturing remain unfairly negative, the judging panel will be looking for evidence of maximised productivity levels through innovative recruitment techniques, training and cultivation of the workforce.

6. Demand-Driven Manufacturer of the Year Award

The judging panel will be looking for businesses that have expertly implemented demand driven manufacturing doctrine into the company culture. With lead time pressures, fluctuating customer demand and inventory targets to manage, companies will need to demonstrate how they have adopted Just-In-Time (JIT) principles across the supply chain to manage short lead times and meet customer demand.

7. Manufacturer of the Year Award

Recognising a “winner of winners”, this award represents the pinnacle in manufacturing excellence today, acknowledging the outstanding achievements of a single manufacturing enterprise that has successfully realised corporate growth, taking their business to the next level in competitive manufacturing. With no nominations being accepted, the judges will declare as the winner the company that has illustrated significant success in manufacturing performance, as well as progress in growing shareholder value.
